Is PTE easier than IELTS?

Not easier - different. PTE rewards computer-comfortable test-takers and consistent delivery; IELTS rewards natural English conversation in the speaking section (with a human examiner). Students who freeze in face-to-face speaking often score higher on PTE. Students with strong conversational English but slower typing may score higher on IELTS. Take a diagnostic in each before committing.

How long should I prepare for PTE?

Most KC students achieve 65+ overall within 6-8 weeks of structured prep. PTE's algorithm-scoring is consistent - once you understand what the algorithm rewards (clear enunciation, content density, accurate spelling), scores plateau quickly. Above 79+ requires more focused work on the highest-weight question types (read-aloud, summarise written text, write essay).

Where is PTE accepted?

Widely accepted: Australia (universities + all visa categories), UK (Student Route, Skilled Worker), NZ, Ireland, most Canadian universities (and most Canadian provincial nomination programs). US universities accept PTE but historically prefer TOEFL - verify per university. Not currently accepted for US visa-category English proficiency.

PTE Academic coaching - frequently asked questions

Pearson's algorithm scores all sections including speaking and writing. The algorithm rewards clarity, content relevance, structure, and (in speaking) delivery rhythm. Consistent retake-to-retake scores are a side benefit of the algorithmic scoring - less variance than IELTS's human-rater system.
