# Digital SAT Coaching

Digital SAT prep for US, Singapore, Dubai, and some European university undergraduate admissions - adaptive testing format with Reading + Writing and Math modules.

## Format

- **Duration:** 2 hours 14 minutes total (one optional 10-min break)
- **Scoring:** Overall 400-1600 (each section 200-800). Adaptive second-module difficulty caps maximum possible score.
- **Sections:**
  - Reading & Writing (64 min total (2 modules of 32 min)) - 54 questions across literature, history/social studies, science, and humanities passages. Second module's difficulty adapts based on first-module performance.
  - Math (70 min total (2 modules of 35 min)) - 44 questions: algebra, advanced math, problem-solving & data analysis, geometry & trigonometry. Calculator (built-in Desmos) allowed throughout. Second-module adaptive.

## Score bands

- **1200-1350** - Competitive for mid-tier US universities and most state schools accepting international applicants.
- **1400-1500** - Strong score for top-50 US universities. Common bar at universities like UMich / UIUC / Wisconsin.
- **1500+** - Required for Ivy League + MIT / Stanford / Caltech / UChicago. The 1550+ band represents top 1% globally - significant offset to other application elements.

## What we offer

- **Modes:** In-person at Coimbatore center, Live online
- **Duration:** 10-14 weeks (Class XI / early Class XII students); intensive 6-8 week tracks for late starters
- **Batch sizes:** 10-15 students per batch
- KC's SAT prep is tuned to the Digital SAT's adaptive nature - first-module performance determines second-module difficulty and score ceiling, so early-section accuracy matters more than in paper SAT. Prep includes 6+ full mock tests on Bluebook (College Board's official digital platform). Fee structure and current batch dates: please enquire below.

## When should I take SAT?

Class XI second semester (typically April-June) is the standard first attempt. Class XII first semester (September-November) is the retake window. Targeting at least 2 SAT attempts before applying gives flexibility - most US universities take your highest single-sitting composite (some do superscore across sittings).

## Is SAT required for international applicants?

Many US universities went test-optional during COVID. The picture has been mixed since: top universities (Yale / Dartmouth / Brown / Caltech / MIT) reinstated SAT/ACT requirements; others (UChicago / Pomona / many UCs) remain test-optional or test-flexible. Even at test-optional schools, a strong SAT can meaningfully strengthen the application for international applicants where GPA conversion is opaque.

## How does Digital SAT adaptive scoring work?

Each section has two modules. First module is identical for all test-takers; performance determines whether you get an easier or harder second module. Higher difficulty in module 2 means a higher possible score range; lower difficulty caps your maximum. This makes pace + accuracy in module 1 disproportionately important - slow-and-accurate beats fast-and-careless in early questions.

## Frequently asked questions

### How long are SAT scores valid?

Officially indefinite, but universities typically expect scores from within 2-5 years of application. Most Class XII applications expect SAT from the prior 12-18 months.

### How is the Digital SAT different from the paper SAT?

Adaptive module-based difficulty (paper was linear); shorter (2h14 vs 3h+); built-in calculator throughout Math (paper had no-calc + calc sections); on-screen Bluebook delivery (paper used scantron). Scoring scale unchanged at 400-1600.

### Should I take SAT Subject Tests?

SAT Subject Tests were discontinued by College Board in 2021. They no longer exist. Universities that previously required them now use other application elements (essays, advanced coursework, etc.) for subject-specific signal.

### Can I take SAT at home?

Not currently - Digital SAT must be taken at an authorised test center. The digital format means test centres use their own computer labs or students bring approved devices.

### Can KC arrange SAT booking?

No - bookings via College Board's website. We help with prep, slot-strategy (especially for India where test slots fill quickly), and confirmation of the universities your scores should be sent to at booking (4 free reports included).
